Featured Event: Reflect, Refresh & Renew w/Yoga Rocks the Park's Tina Porter TONIGHT at Yoga on Yamhill, Portland
Tonight's class is about making a connection with ourselves in an effort to slow down to recognize patterns, nourish and nurture.
Love is an action verb. What do you do to show love? Actions speak louder than words and affirmations are great, but how are you showing up for yourself on a daily, consistent basis. Self love can be learned on the mat if we’re practicing yoga and not just doing it. When we stand on our mats and take time to ‘drop in’ to Tadasana (Mountain pose), we connect to the root chakra, which governs the first stage of emotional and psychological development. Eating disorders, addictions or obsessive control are often results from a disconnect in the root chakra. This class is about making a connection with ourselves in an effort to slow down to recognize patterns, nourish and nurture. More info
About Tina Porter
Come and see why Tina Porter was voted one of the top yoga instructors in Denver. The Denver Post and 5280, Top of the Town claims, 'Tina Porter is one of Denver's most sought-after instructors.' Her classes are an experience not to be missed!
Life with 2 small children is what nourishes her daily practice thus fueling her classes that are a true example of her integrity and devotion. Tina continues to travel and teach workshops, conferences and festivals around the country. Her psychotherapeutic monologues have you meditating in movement, relating to her on many levels, opening more than you thought was possible and releasing more than you thought you even held. Tina Porter’s style of yoga combines the foundations of Power Yoga, the flow of a Jivamukti class, the traditional alignment of Ashtanga, and the grace of Anusara. Her teacher of 11 years, Bryan Kest in Santa Monica, CA. is the one who suggested she take her passion off the mat and teach! She’s been practicing yoga for 20+ years and has taught for 12+ years.
"When you get out of your analytical head and drop in to what you actually feel- a whole new world of opportunity opens up! When you PRACTICE yoga and not just DO IT, there's less self-judgement, less resistance and less nit-picking." says Porter of her practice.

My first time getting to connect and weave some magic with San Francisco based teacher Stephanie Snyder. It was quite a magical experience -- our new Yogi Tunes DJ Brad Senstock aka Dub Akal just happened to be passing through the city that day, so he came and dropped some flute and percussion. It was apparently the best weather they'd had in weeks. The chemistry of yoga and music was divine, easeful, graceful and true to the spirit of and embodied devotional practice. Many people came up afterwards and said that the combined experience took them to the next level :) Can't wait to play with Steph again!!
